Indian Rocks Beach (located in the Tampa Bay and Clearwater areas), initially developed in the 1920s as a weekend getaway destination for wealthy Tampa residents, boasts three miles of the friendliest beach located in Pinellas County. People come from all over the world to visit Indian Rocks Beach for the city’s fine beaches and to watch the beautiful sunsets. The city currently has twenty-plus beach accesses located along Gulf Boulevard. Indian Rocks Beach, a quiet town of 4,200 residents, is a barrier island located on the West Coast of Florida, only a 30 minute drive from Tampa International Airport. Gulf Boulevard runs North & South through Indian Rocks Beach. To the north is Belleair Beach and to the south is Indian Shores.
Indian Rocks Beach attracts many tourists due to its white sandy beaches and convenient proximity to many Florida attractions including Busch Gardens, Walt Disney World, Universal Studio, and Sea World. The area provides several outstanding restaurants (Crabby Bills, Guppy’s, and Brewmasters Steakhouse), and a variety of gift and convenience stores.
One special attraction in our area is the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, home to Winter the dolphin. Winter’s courage has touched the hearts of children and adults the world over. A Dolphin’s Tale, the new 3D movie about Winter was filmed in and around the Clearwater Aquarium. Come see Winter during your stay at Tommy’s on the Beach!
For those visitors bringing their pets with them to Indian Rocks Beach, there is a dog beach on the Belleair Causeway and a dog park.
