Indian Rocks Beach: Tommy's on the Beach: "Whimsical, Refreshing, 'Beachy'"

In a world of cookie-cutter condos, we found a little bit of Old Florida on what may be the state's most beautiful beach. Tommy's on the Beach is an original vacation cottage from the 1950s/60s, freshly renovated in a colorful retro style. It has three individually decorated units with big decks overlooking a grassy area with hammocks, grills and umbrella tables, which fronts the sand and sea. The units have kitchens and open-style living and dining areas as well as bedrooms. Big sliding-glass doors (affording sea views), blonde hardwood floors, and ultra-simple decor that is bright and slightly whimsical give this place a refreshing, "beachy" ambience that can be hard to find in quality lodging. Several restaurants are within easy walking distance, including a moderately priced seafood place and a Thai restaurant. We fell in love with Indian Rocks Beach and will definitely return to Tommy's.

We rented all 3 units at Tommy's on the Beach for a family reunion and loved it. The owners are some of the nicest people anywhere. I felt so spoiled having so much space and being right on the water with such a nice beach. The kids loved the hammock under the trees in the yard along with the beach. The house was well stocked with loads of beach towels and plenty of kitchen supplies instead of the bare minimum you sometimes find in a rental unit. I was surprised by the large amount of beach supplies including beach chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, noodles, ice chests and fishing equipment. I loved to be able to watch the waves on the beach from the air conditioned comfort of the living room in the hot afternoon. We found lots of fun things to do in the area. It was a great week and a great place to stay.

We had a wonderful time at this vacation home. My family rented out the whole place and I got married right in the beautiful courtyard at sunset. It couldn't have been more romantic. We had a small wedding and the courtyard was perfect. The units were in great shape, they fit all of my wedding party and family - without being crowded. I cannot express how great Jan and her husband were to us, they helped in any way they could to make my special day even more special (if that's possible). My family from up north loved this little spot on Indian Rocks Beach, and they all want to come back. I am already thinking of planning a 5 year anniversary/reunion there (if I can wait that long!).
